Tyrone Wells

Tyrone Wells got his start as the singer for California Christian-rock band Skypark, but scored bigger success as a solo singer in the Coldplay vein, turning to triple-A material for 2009’s Remain and this year’s acoustic EP Metal And Wood. His earnest, emotional songwriting has since shown up as background music in TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy and One Tree Hill. Although appealingly produced and sincere, Wells’ music also suffers from a pervasive, smooth blandness, like musical yogurt—despite the epic feel that it reaches for, it’s almost embarrassingly easy to tune out and forget about after it’s over. His fourth full-length release, Where We Meet, came out earlier this year.
