Artist Vanishing Kids

Some of the hardly known indie bands circulating the country manage to embrace a weird blur of genres without fitting neatly into any trend, making for music that's a tad chaotic but undeniably refreshing. For Vanishing Kids, a band that formed in Madison before moving to its current base in Portland, the mix includes a heap of primordial industrial music (Martin Atkins of Killing Joke, Pigface, and Public Image Ltd. produced their 2005 album, The Selfish Mirror), nervous post-punk rhythms, and gothy melodies that slither and sparkle.
