Artist Victor Villarreal

Victor Villarreal is resurfacing again. After making a name with Cap’n Jazz in the early 1990s, Villarreal stepped away from the stage before becoming active again with Ghosts And Vodka and debuting a solo album, Alive, in 2009. The softer, stripped-down acoustic sound he explored in his solo debut is back in his new album,Invisible Cinema. He punctuates wordless interludes with nimble fingerpicking, allowing melody to speak instead of lyrics in most places. A meandering guitar and contemplative melodies wind throughout the songs in a way that is intimate but interesting—a feeling that will transfer well to a live performance setting.
