Metal fans hailed Satan when the members of ultra-evil Vital Remains hooked up with singer Glen Benton in 2001. Benton, better known as the anti-God crusader of
Deicide, brought even more badass edge to the long-running metal band, wrapping his snarl around lyrics like, “My flesh and blood will never be yours / God you fucking whore.” If you’re offended, it won’t necessarily impede your enjoyment of Vital Remains’ music; Benton’s barks and growls are generally unintelligible. The band’s latest album, 2007’s
Icons Of Evil, includes nice ditties like “Where Is Your God Now.”
