There’s no question that Von Iva’s dance-rock feels out of place in 2009, at least to people who were already tired of this stuff four years ago. The San Francisco-based all-lady trio—which appeared as Zooey Deschanel’s backing band in Yes Man—released a 2009 EP, Girls On Film, which drapes its brash indie rock in stylishly throbbing synths and soul posturing.
