Wanda Jackson

Arguably the best-known female rockabilly singer of her era, Wanda Jackson enjoyed a career resurgence when the early ’50s style of rock ’n’ roll came back into fashion in the ’80s. The “Queen Of Rockabilly” has since recorded with Elvis Costello, The Cramps, and Rosie Flores. She has continued touring honky-tonks and rockabilly festivals, where she happily treats retro-hounds to chestnuts like “Let’s Have A Party.” At age 73, Jackson’s partying cred may be suspect, but her musical cred certainly isn’t: She attracted the attention of Jack White, who produced this winter’s The Party Ain’t Over, on which Jackson is hollering like the old days and absolutely resplendent in white fringe.
