Weatherbox

Weatherbox

Weatherbox stormed out of the gates with its 2007 debut, American Art, an engrossing collection of melodic punk that recalled California’s East Bay scene in the early ’90s (i.e., Samiam, Fuel, Jawbreaker). The album attracted a lot of attention in the indie-punk scene, but Weatherbox’s momentum was stunted by numerous delays in dropping its second record. Doghouse eventually released The Cosmic Drama in 2009, though it proved to be anticlimactic. Where its predecessor specialized in punky hooks, The Cosmic Drama is mellow to the point of sleepiness. Later releases, like 2011’s Follow The Rattle Of The Afghan Guitar EP, have had a little more life.
