West End Motel

Outside of his adopted hometown of Atlanta, Brent Hinds is best known as one half of Mastodon’s twin-guitar attack. Of course, a scene lifer like Hinds can’t be contented with just one musical mistress, and Hinds spends his time away from his name-making metal act playing with a number of ATL bands, including West End Motel. It’s a considerable departure from Mastodon’s epic, growling prog-metal: West End Motel pairs the hirsute guitarist with vocalist Tom Cheshire, forming the whiskey-soaked core of a roots-rock act that turns The Misfits’ “Last Caress” into a nihilistic two-step.
