Artist White Lies

When you want the big, big sound, you go with producer Alan Moulder. The man behind the board for classic releases by My Bloody Valentine, Ride, and Smashing Pumpkins had his hands in a 2011 record for the “alts” (The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart’s Belong), as well as White Lies’ Rituals, which was a bit of brood-and-soar for their Interpol- and Killers-loving older siblings. With Moulder’s touch, guitars roar, synths ebb and flow, and the voice of Harry McVeigh grasps at something summarized by the chorus of the cavernous “Bigger Than Us.”
