Artist Why Torture Is Wrong And The People Who Love Them
Trust Christopher Durang to twist your reality into segments, skewer them, and serve them all back to you like a blackened shish-ka-bob. He’s been doing it for years, and his absurd, broad type of satire, chirpy even in its inescapable darkness, shows no signs of diminishing in strength. This première at the Public Theater should be worthwhile: Of course, the Public has the oomph of production value behind it, but Durang’s attempt to tackle terrorism fears as well as the appearance of Kristine Neilson—an electric muse of Durang’s who understands his comedy implicitly—should count for even more. Show up early and get a chance to snag $20 tickets on the rush line in the Public Theater lobby.
