Xerxes

Those of you doubting that hardcore is still a thing, behold: Xerxes. The Louisville-based punk outfit plays brutal, thrash-influence punk in the style of Converged. Their recent debut, Our Home Is A Deathbed—recorded, appropriately, in a funeral parlour in their hometown—has drawn a swell of positive press, marking Xerxes as a breakout hardcore act in 2012. Despite all the obvious aggression, there’s a warm, almost inviting quality to their debut record that distinguishes Xerxes’ Kentucky-fried hardcore.
