Artist Yawn

  • Yawn

A band has to have some set of stones to write the set up of a potential negative review when it picks a name. To really wear the name Yawn properly, an act has to own the hell out of a sound, too. These locals do just that without shying away from the word. The yawn this collective evokes isn’t boredom, but a lazy day fit for a summer drive. It’s more of a “just had the last drop of a daiquiri” type of yawn, not the musical torture type. The band’s smiley sound is cut from the same cloth as Vampire Weekend’s, but never comes off as derivative. Even though Yawn’s lacking the vast technical skills of Ezra Koenig and gang, the band still musters up a similar yuppie joy.
