A rapper who rose up with the ever-intriguing persona of a snowman slinging what snowmen sling in the Dirty South, Young Jeezy raps hard and heavy, over thick beats that don’t do a lot to make his tales about selling coke especially buoyant. That’s not a problem, necessarily, and it’s made his albums—such as 2006’s The Inspiration and 2008’s The Recession—slogs in surprisingly rewarding ways. Jeezy has been pushing back the release of his new record, Thug Motivation 103, for months now; it’s supposedly due later this year.
