More Just Announced

The scavenger hunt: staple of church youth group picnics and Boy Scout jamborees, impetus for one of the greatest Eddie Deezen stories ever told (Midnight Madness, in case you’re an ignoramus), and now, your chance to reap considerable rewards from Transmission Entertainment. This Saturday marks the first-ever Fun Fun Fun Fest Scavenger Hunt, a citywide scramble that offers the opportunity to win weekend passes to the festival for your entire team, plus a gaggle of other worthwhile stuff. Here’s how it breaks down:

THE RULES
- Each team (two to five people) needs a clever name. Costumes are also encouraged, with a bonus of 25 points for those who dress up. You could go as The A-Team, the Supreme Court, the Algonquin Roundtable—it doesn’t really matter, although can we just put it out there that anything from The Warriors is totally played out? Thanks.

- Every team needs a digital camera. This is because a lot of your “acquisitions” will be both incidental and fleeting. The dudes from Transmission have taken a lot of cues from their pals at F Yeah Fest, whose past items have included stuff like “Kiss a senior citizen” and “Get a Nike Swoosh shaved into your head.” Just a warning.

- You’ll get your list of 50 items at Red 7 at 4 p.m., then you’ll have a short amount of time to collect as many of them as you can and get your asses over to Waterloo Park.

THE SPOILS
- The grand prize is weekend passes to Fun Fun Fun for your entire team. If you already have a weekend pass, congratulations: You’ll be upgraded to VIP.

- As if that weren’t enough, you’ll get over $500 in additional prizes and gift certificates from Fun Fun Fun Fest vendors—everything from free haircuts at Birds Barbershop to gift certificates to Frank, Jaime’s Spanish Village, and the Alamo Drafthouse.

- Even better, you’ll all get free tickets to these 10 upcoming Transmission shows: Islands, Jello Biafra And The Guantanamo School Of Medicine, The Black Angels, Municipal Waste, Thao And The Get Down Stay Down, Chuck Ragan, Friendly Fires, Eyedea And Abilities + Themselves, J. Tillman, and Cursive. That’s a lot of free.

- And to top it off, you’ll get this thing. You want that thing.

The hunt is free (with a suggested donation of five food items to Caritas), open to the public, and all-ages. Sign up begins at 3 p.m. Get your team together now—just don’t bring this guy.
