According to a press release just received from his management company, Sky Sunlight Saxon (real name Richard Marsh), leader of seminal garage group The Seeds, is currently in critical condition at St. David's South Austin Hospital after falling ill over the weekend. Saxon reportedly felt under the weather late last week, but still managed to perform a short set of Seeds songs at Antone's this past Saturday. He was admitted to the hospital on Monday and diagnosed with an undetermined infection of the internal organs. The psych legend had recently relocated to Austin and begun performing backed by locals Shapes Have Fangs, including a headlining set at this summer's Psych Fest. Saxon's wife Sabrina is asking that fans send cards and balloons (no flowers) to his room as "a visual illustration of the positive healing vibes that are being generated for the much beloved musician."
