Dismember The Alamo: Night Of The Comet at Alamo Drafthouse Lake Creek
Apparently released to capitalize on Halley’s Comet-mania, 1984 cult classic Night Of The Comet pits valley girls against the undead when Earth passes through the tail of a comet that reduces most of the population to either a pile of red dust or a cannibalistic zombie. Sisters Sam and Reggie survive thanks to their Army-brat upbringing—which imparted an impressive knowledge of assault weapons—coming to terms with the end of civilization by raiding the mall, while avoiding the government agents out to harvest their blood for an antidote. The comet gets all the titular credit, but it's the zombies that are of interest here, as this screening kicks off the Alamo Lake Creek’s annual festival of the living dead, Dismember The Alamo.
