A.V. Club: Best of the Decade

  • Fri Nov 20 8 pm,
Grand Buffet, DJ Jester, Conquistador Inc., and Focus Group at Beauty Bar

A pair of cheeky white rappers from Pittsburgh, Grand Buffet might be compared to current poetry-slam graduates like Sage Francis if its songs weren’t so explicitly funny. The duo is a favorite of the indie-rock set, having toured with Of Montreal and MGMT, and has been threatening for the last decade to release a full-blown children’s album, Gorilla And Fox, which is increasingly seeming like a put-on. In the meantime, expect fan favorites like the very kid-friendly “Let’s Go Find The Cat!”—a song so beloved, it has its own Facebook group dedicated to it—alongside tracks from last year’s decidedly non-kiddie King Vision. Conquistador Inc. and Focus Group open with sample-heavy electro and circuit-bent symphonies, respectively, while DJ Jester spins in between.
