The Hood Internet, Neiliyo, Prepmode, Colourmusic, Zlam Dunk, Stabba, and Ideal Soul Mart at Scoot Inn
The Hood Internet is a Chicago mash-up duo best known for its compelling juxtaposition of rap and indie-rock, and a steady stream of remixes and jam-packed mixtapes have served to highlight the group’s ravenous musical appetite. Last year’s The Mixtape Volume 3 fused Jay-Z and Xiu Xiu (“I Do Brooklyn When I Want”), Pimp C and The New Pornographers (“Knocking Fablez Down”), and T-Pain and TV On The Radio (“Frozen Age”), among many others—all to surprising effect. The Hood Internet has remained a studio phenomenon for the most part, but recent dates have revealed the act’s live iteration to be just as danceable as a frequent point of comparison: Girl Talk. That should make for an appropriate "main entrée" for Cherrypeel's The Combo Plate, a two-stage Fun Fun Fun warm-up that also includes one-man electro-funk whirling dervish Neiliyo and heavy metal ABBA cover band Stabba.
