Skinny Puppy and Vverevvolf Grehv at Emo's
Skinny Puppy has long been exalted as industrial demigods for its punishing electronics and effects-processed guitars. The politically charged Canadian band created a scene before there really was one, and its early influence on (and friendships with) guys like Trent Reznor and Al Jourgensen was pivotal to what would become modern industrial music. The band’s output since its 2000 reunion (its latest album was 2007’s Mythmaker) has favored well with critics, and remaining core members Nivek Ogre and Cevin Key continually reset the standards for the genre. Their current tour—dubbed the In Solvent See Tour—is likely a reference to its former label, SPV, whose financial problems delayed the release of a new album.
