Sunset Supper And Cinema: Ghostbusters at Whole Foods Market
Blockbuster mega-comedies have a high degree of difficulty, because they have to deliver on both laughs and spectacle. Ghostbusters gets it better than just about any movie of its kind, and since the dated special effects are no longer mind-blowing, it’s fortunate the interplay among Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis holds up as well as it does. The three star as parapsychology professors who launch a ghost-removal service when New York City is suddenly besieged by the supernatural—but really it’s just a classic comedy setup for the trio’s smart-assed, modern-day Marx Brothers exchanges. (“Where do these stairs go?” “They go up.”)
