  • Sat Nov 7 9:30 pm,
Voxtrot, The Octopus Project, The Coathangers, Twin Tigers, Walter Schreifels Band, and The Jazzus Lizard at Mohawk Patio

As far as comeback singles go, they don't come more self-explanatory than Voxtrot's "Berlin Without Return…" Combining equal parts quarter-life crisis and homesickness, frontman Ramesh Srivastava's declaration of "I don't know you, baby, you don't know me" may as well suffice as explanation for the band's lengthy absence from Austin clubs and its subsequent return. The band has been scant with the details about a proper follow-up to 2007's Voxtrot, but "Berlin" and the airy, Beatles-quoting synth-pop of "Trepanation Party" signal a new, contemplative era for Voxtrot. Though new era or no, "Trepanation" in particular inches toward the dance floor, which is likely to be packed at this Fun Fun Fun Fest aftershow, featuring fellow local heroes The Octopus Project; wiry, whiny (and endlessly catchy) The Coathangers; pedal-stompers Twin Tigers; the Elliott Smith-esque strums of Gorilla Biscuits/Quicksand frontman Walter Schreifels; and the Coltrane-meets-Yow sound of The Jazzus Lizard.
