The original Jo’s on South Congress has long been known as the city’s primo people-watching spot. While that branch is a charming open-air shack that serves coffee and minimal snacks, the Second Street digs represent a significant upgrade. There’s a patio out front where dogs are welcome, and a hip, iBook-toting crowd populates the industrial-chic interior. The spot is also popular for casual business lunches or afternoon coffee meetings among the city’s creative set. At the downtown location, there’s a full menu of breakfast items, sandwiches and other casual fare. The burger—which arrives on a soft, sweet bun—is one of the best in the city.
