Austin has three Opal Divine’s, and the rest of the world has none—it’s obvious here who’s the clear winner. Although they share a name and history, each location has its own unique personality: Penn Field has a large indoor dining room. The Freehouse on Sixth Street boasts an exceptional outdoor patio and stays open until the ungodly hour of 4 a.m. The Marina, meanwhile, has a solid roster of live music. At all locations, the menu ranges from basic pub grub like fish-and-chips and the hormone-free “divine burger” to more exotic fare like the Baja fish tacos and the recently added Zihautanejo shrimp tacos. Opal Divine’s also has a drink menu to make even the most wizened of Scotch snobs blush (not that you could tell): 40 types of tequilas, 25 choices of beers on tap, martinis, and margaritas all await.
