Newswire Articles Of Faith to reunite for first time in 25 years

No one stays broken up anymore, not even bands that existed for a scant four years and called it quits when Back To The Future was storming box offices. But for every few Sublime With Rome or Smashing Pumpkins, there's an Articles Of Faith, one of the most notable bands of the early '80s hardcore scene. It was announced today the band will reunite with all original members for its first show in 25 years at Riot Fest in Chicago this October, which will also coincide with a new EP to be released on Alternative Tentacles Records.

Although Articles Of Faith lived in Chicago, it drew much of its energy from the D.C. punk scene surrounding Dischord Records, which went beyond the loud-fast template to incorporate non-rock elements (from genres like funk and jazz) that fomented the post-hardcore sound carried on by bands like Fugazi and Jawbox. Articles Of Faith released two EPs and two LPs, the latter both produced by Bob Mould, and Alternative Tentacles later bundled everything into two releases, Complete Vol. 1 and Complete Vol. 2. After the band broke up in 1985, frontman Vic Bondi went on to form numerous other groups, most recently Report Suspicious Activity with J. Robbins of Jawbox/Burning Airlines and Darren Zentek of Kerosene 454.

Riot Fest will make its first line-up announcement next week, when five-day passes go on sale.
