Black Moth Super Rainbow gets hairy

Black Moth Super Rainbow Commence infantile jokes now!

Lest you think that Black Moth Super Rainbow's show tonight at the Bottom Lounge is merely a chance to relax amid the band's euphoric sound-gobs, they've still got at least one foot on the creepy side of weird. The band's Chicago-based label, Graveface Records, announced earlier this month that the new Eating Us (due out this coming Tuesday) would be available in a "hairy version," packaged inside a limited run of bags apparently made from shag carpet that's seen untold amounts of bong water and dirty, dirty hippie feet. Photographed above in the worst way anyone could imagine, said bags apparently come with some extra stickers and a chance to win extra goodies. We're not sure what it is with these folks and hairy-ness, but BMSR member Tobacco's 2008 solo album Fucked Up Friends included a song called "Hairy Candy." The band also has created some hairy displays for a few selected independent record stores—including Reckless Records' shops around town—that look like this. So in case the title of the band's killer 2007 album, Dandelion Gum, gave you the wrong impression, make no mistake: They like gettin' hairy, and potentially gross. We assume this means you can trade shower clogs for merch or admission, right?
