Blonde Redhead announces tour
Blonde Redhead will be hitting Chicago on Oct. 22 as part of a nationwide tour in support of a new album, Penny Sparkle, due out mid-September. The last we heard from the New York no-wave group was with the 2007 release of 23, which was a clear product of its alterna-rock producer Alan Moulder—the same guy who's mixed U2, Depeche Mode, My Bloody Valentine, and Smashing Pumpkins. The group is heading in a different direction for Penny: Van Rivers and the Subliminal Kid are producing this time around, and if single "Here Sometimes" is any evidence, the new album stands to be dreamier and more electro-infused than its predecessors.
Redhead's on tour with German electro producer Pantha Du Prince; pre-sale tickets go on sale July 21 or 23 in most cities. Tour dates:
