Bruce Springsteen at United Center
Now that everybody's all proud to be an Amurrican again, what better time to embrace the cagy, slightly subversive patriotism of Bruce Springsteen? The man they call Der Boss is gearing up to don a sparkly leotard and lead the members of Up With People in a Bob Fosse-inspired rendition of "Born To Run" at this weekend's Super Bowl Halftime Show, and now he's officially announced a follow-up tour to help get the word out about his new Working On A Dream album (because unless you happen to listen to the radio, watch television, read magazines, or surf the Internet, how else would you know about it?). According to a just-received press release, the tour kicks off April 1 in California and includes an May 12 date at the United Center, which means The E Street Band will be here while all the juices are still fresh and Bruce's intro for Clarence Clemons hasn't yet devolved into made-up positions like "The Administrative Assistant To The Undersecretary Of Heart And Soul." The United Center has yet to make any announcement regarding tickets, but naturally you should keep a close eye out. Sales for Springsteen's recent European tour reportedly crashed the Internet in Scandinavia, which may be inadvertently responsible for Iceland's current economic troubles. U.S.A.! U.S.A.!
