Buddy Guy's Legends to pack up all its stuff, move one block away

Buddy Guy's Legends will get an upgrade next year when the South Loop blues club moves to a new location, the Sun-Times reports. The move shouldn't be too hard; the new address, 700 S. Wabash Ave., is only a block away. Formerly operated by jazz club HotHouse, the two-story venue will allow a larger capacity of nearly 400 people on the main floor. The second-floor stage, which brings the max capacity to 600, will also house a bar, pool tables, and a private party area. New sound systems will also be installed. Guy tells the Sun-Times that the club will retain its current intimate setting despite the expansion. But it seems dark and dingy blues won't quite work as well on a large scale with private drunken parties in the background.

No opening date has been set, so Legends will continue operating for the time being at its current home. Larry McCray plays tonight with Guy.
