C2E2
The Chicago Comic And Entertainment Expo (C2E2) went down without a hitch this weekend. McCormick Place was brimming with comic book collectors, sellers, artists, and, inevitably, impassioned fans dressed as characters from popular geek lore. Chewbacca, several incarnations of The Joker, and at least seven Ghostbusters were all in the exhibit hall at any given moment. The A.V. Club even ran into a dead ringer for Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates Of The Caribbean who stubbornly refused to answer when called "Johnny Depp."
Attendees milled around people-watching, perused "artists alley" (where they could inspect comic art), and sat in on panels, like one offered by Chicago Bears linebacker/comic book guru Lance Briggs on his favorite comics and site. The convention culminated inside the IGN Theater on Saturday night with an appearance by English graphic novelist Neil Gaiman, who's apparently a pretty big deal to comic aficionados. But there was something for every level of fan: Legions of role-playing fans converged to play Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons while collectors thumbed through the stacks of comic books in search of a rare find.
We snagged a few photos on Saturday. Enjoy!
