It’s been a slippery slope for Midway Games lately. The Chicago-based video-game maker known best for creating Mortal Kombat and bringing comically gory fatalities into people’s homes since the early ’90s has steadily been reporting millions of dollars in losses since 2004, and today has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Crain’s is reporting. Day-to-day operation of the company will remain unchanged during the bankruptcy proceedings, but it’s unclear how this will affect Midway going forward. Looks like Mortal Kombat’s undead ninja Scorpion might be amending his catchphrase to “Get over here… give us some money!”
