Cheapskating: All-you-can-eat spread at Kendall College today
No related
A few times a year, today included, the culinary school at Kendall College opens its doors for a feast. More specifically, an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet prepared by students for their final exam in the advanced "Garde Manger" class.
According to the school's website: "Garde Manger is the culinary art of preparing, presenting, and decorating cold food, generally for buffets and banquets, and is considered one of the most demanding and artistic specialties of the culinary world."
Those demands will be met today, when the public can come, pay, and grade the students themselves. Our grades don't count, of course, but it's still a worthwhile mental exercise. Perhaps enough to distract from the millions of calories we'll be consuming. (Decider is heading over and will be submitting our final grades this afternoon.) The exam is on cold food, but the school will also serve hot entrées and desserts to fill things out. Tickets are $25; there are two seatings at 12:00 and 12:30 p.m. Call 312.752.2328 for reservations or make them online.
