Check it out! John C. Reilly records two tracks for Jack White’s label
Brousseau and Reilly
Chicagoan John C. Reilly has teamed up with renaissance man Jack White to release two singles on the latter’s label, Third Man Records. One of the singles, a cover of Ray Price’s “I’ll Be There If You Ever Want” with Lavender Diamond’s Becky Stark, is streaming over at EW.com. The second, a collaboration with Tom Brosseau, has a snippet streaming on Brosseau’s website. The songs will be available tomorrow, Nov. 29, for download on iTunes and on vinyl.
With these singles, Reilly’s music career is branching off from his singing work in acting roles like Chicago’s Amos Hart, Walk Hard’s Dewey Cox, and Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!’s Dr. Steve Brule. An especially far stretch from Stepbrothers hit “Boats ‘N Hoes,” Reilly’s new singles touch on the twangy, romantic side of old-school country music.
Third Man Records made weirder waves in the music world earlier this year with the release of the Insane Clown Posse/Mozart ass-licking song. Thankfully, the new songs from Reilly are a significant step up from ICP’s song, though it’s not all that hard to top lyrics like, “Call him in need of a tongue on his butt cheek.”
