Just Announced Chicago International Film Festival reveals first batch of titles

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives

The buzz over October's Chicago International Film Festival has officially begun. Michael Kutza, Founder and Artistic Director of the CIFF, just released a "sneak preview" of 20 of the Festival's featured films. Three of the films were made in Chicago, including Louder Than A Bomb, an acclaimed documentary that follows four local high school poetry teams as they prepare for the world's largest youth slam. Also featured is the instant family classic Big Tits Zombie, a 3-D gorefest from Japan.

Other films of note include: Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, which took home the Palm d'Or at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival; Trust, a drama directed by ex-Friend David Schwimmer and featuring Clive Owen and Catherine Keener, which meditates upon the emotional trauma that resonates throughout a family following the assault of their teenage daughter; and A Screaming Man, winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes, which combines the personal and political struggles of an aging pool attendant in war-torn Chad.

The Chicago International Film Festival runs Oct. 7-21st at AMC River East, and festival passes are now on sale.
