Chicago native John Mulaney hosting his own Comedy Central special Jan. 28
John Mulaney, a native of our fair city, will host his own TV special on Comedy Central on Jan. 28. The special, New In Town, precedes his new stand-up album of the same name, which will be released on Jan. 31.
Mulaney lived in Chicago until college, then later moved to New York where he performed stand-up before becoming a writer for Saturday Night Live, Best Week Ever, and Important Things With Demetri Martin. He recently talked to The A.V. Club about college with Nick Kroll, SNL’s Stefon, and bombing during stand-up routines.
Mulaney has released one other stand-up album, The Top Part, that featured an absolutely hysterical anecdote about his 11-year-old self torturing patrons of Wrigleyville’s Salt And Pepper Diner with the music of sex machine Tom Jones.
