CONFIRMED: Pixies to bring much-anticipated Doolittle tour to Chicago

UPDATE: The tour has been confirmed, and comes to the Aragon Nov. 20-21. Tickets on sale Sept. 12 through Ticketmaster.

For those Americans who shook their fists in Europe's direction when the Pixies announced their October tour there—during which the band will play its epochal 1989 album Doolittle—it's time to sheathe those hands (or at least find another reason to be angry at those suave, handsome foreigners): According to frontman Frank Black in an interview with Spin, the Pixies will play a handful of North American cities this fall. In addition to Los Angeles, Oakland, New York, and Boston, Black specifically mentioned Chicago in the list.

However, Black has previously spread Pixies-related rumors that went over the heads of the other band members. When he circulated the idea of a new Pixies album, bassist Kim Deal retorted in an interview by saying, "I think it's kind of something to bring up whenever he needs press. That's the only time I hear about it." Until the tour dates are officially released (no word yet on when that might be), it might be worth keeping your fingers crossed. (Chicagoans can for sure still see Frank Black  perform with his wife as Grand Duchy on July 24 at Subterranean and July 25 in Wicker Park Fest.) For now, watch the band perform "Monkey Gone To Heaven" on the BBC, back when Black had some hair on his head:
