The more things change, the more they stay the same—especially when talking about copyright law. Delve deep into the subject at the Hungry Brain Tuesday night with intellectual property lawyer Thomas Irvin, Chicago Reader columnist Miles Raymer, and Johnathan Crawford, Grey Ghost percussionist and owner of the Candy Dinner record label.

The trio, along with non-profit arts organization Homeroom Chicago and webcasters You Me Them Everybody, are hosting a panel discussion about copyright law and its implications for the musicians, songwriters, record labels, and media giants that it protects. For bands and composers struggling through the BitTorrent generation, this topic is definitely worth any inquiring musician’s time. Legal representation is optional.
