Just Announced Explosions In The Sky to mark anniversary at the Congress

Texas instrumental band appears here for mini tour

Though etiquette guides suggest celebrating a 10-year anniversaries with diamonds, Explosions In The Sky is opting for sweaty summertime concerts. The Austin-based quartet celebrates making a decade’s worth of dreamy, instrumental noise with a handful of special anniversary shows in three U.S. cities, including one at the Congress Theatre on July 2.
Since forming, the quartet has released four full-length albums, starting with 2000’s How Strange, Innocence, and its most recent, 2007’s All Of  A Sudden I Miss Everyone. The band’s sweeping, cinematic sound has caught the attention of Hollywood music supervisors in recent years, appearing in films like The Diving Bell And The Butterfly and Friday Night Lights (and its TV spinoff).
After a handful of American dates, it’s off to Belgium and England for two fall appearances from the band. Tickets for all three U.S. dates go on sale through Ticketmaster this Saturday, March 14.
