Watch those trouser snakes, nerds, because Gorilla Tango burlesque’s back at it again, aiming to titillate the pop-savvy population. This time around, it’s a show called Fellowship Of The Boobs: An LOTR, WoW, D&D RPG Burlesque. MsPixy, the show’s creator and director, looks to the world of fantasy and the paranormal to arouse audiences.
Well, that’s great and everything, but what’s so hot about elf ears? The A.V. Club asked MsPixy to run through some of the nerd fantasies in Fellowship Of The Boobs and talk about what inspired them, as well as what showgoers could expect to drool over.
Rivers, trees, flowers, and even that can of Mountain Dew over there contain a beautiful inner nymph who doesn’t “understand” nudity taboos.
MsPixy: This one comes from my childhood obsession with Narnia books where the trees, forest, rivers, lakes, and oceans all have a nymph inside. The different types of trees have different nymphs. A birch nymph might be tall, slender, and willowy, whereas a maple nymph might be earthy and curvaceous.
So, this is from my nerd self as a child when I would hope that I could meet the birch nymph that lived inside the growth in my back yard. It’s a very Greek approach, and I like the idea that it can expand to anything, like a piece of a paper. As long as we’re fantasizing, why not have it be possible in anything we like? In our show, it’s specifically a birch nymph, but anything you find attractive, human or not, could be a sexy, beautiful lady or man.
Your date is hairy because (s)he is secretly a werewolf.
MP: There’s a big werewolf number in the show. There’s that whole vampire thing right now, and I think there’s a subcontingent of werewolf people, so that’s why this is of interest to me.
This show has a little something from everything, really. We go from one end of the fantasy gamut to the other. There are some specific references, and Frodo puts in an appearance. There’s absolutely a 20-sided die, but we’re not going on a quest to Mordor. There’s a little Harry Potter and plenty of Dungeons And Dragons. The format is actually based on D&D in that the audience is on a quest with characters and is led by a dungeonmaster. They don’t have to do much, though. They’re just a fellow member on the quest and the characters address the audience.

MP: We have a Cthulhu in our show. That thing’s envisioned many ways, but we’re talking in our show it’s the one with a bunch of tentacles. There’s a spider in the show, too, and she does her fair share of grappling.
In any number of fantasy novels or even in anime, there’s always a character who, one way or another, has more than the average number of appendages. Ours is slightly less graphic than Hentai, though, and a little more coy.

MP: She’s in there because the spider got her! I mean, it could also be a lady, because it’s really the cocoon that’s the fantasy. Being nude but confined by a stretchy membrane is a very sensual and sexy thing. There’s this image of rebirth.
It’s actually my favorite number in the show, because you get to see the elf in silhouette as she struggles to get out of this crazy, sexy cocoon. Then she fights someone with a bunch of arms, so we bring it around to that. I think it’s part of a bondage fantasy that you could get someone entirely wrapped up in material and they’d have to struggle to get out of it. The concept of struggle is a very sexual image.
Two words: dragon woman
MP: Dragons and women are our two favorite things in fantasy stories, and so a sexy dragon combines them into one thing, just all mushed together. It’s the pinnacle of the fantasy world, the dragon, but the problem is that you can’t go on a date with it. But if you get a creature that’s half dragon and half sexy lady, then we’re in business. We have a couple in our show, actually. We couldn’t have a show without a few dragon ladies.
