Just Announced Holy shit: Pelican releasing insane LP box set, collaborating with Three Floyds

Beer + box sets = boners

Pelican

Pelican, bringer of the heaviest of instrumental rock, is maybe just a little too awesome. Yes, the band had the most bad-ass limited-edition Kuma’s burger named after it (“10-ounce Kobe beef patty, pan-seared scallops and lardons, in a garlic white wine sauce on top of a parmesan crisp, and served with white wine-garlic aioli”). Yes, it's about to release an amazing-sounding LP box set, packed in a wooden box and featuring material from its four full-lengths and three EPs. Yes, it's playing in L.A. Oct. 30 with Goatsnake, doom-metal gods who almost never play live. But there’s more.

As the band prepares for a newly announced Oct. 23 show at the Bottom Lounge, celebrating the aforementioned bitchin' box set, Three Floyds will be preparing its own limited-edition release: a Pelican-inspired dopplebock. This as-yet-unnamed, sure-to-be-delicious beer will be served at the Oct. 23 show, and at select bars around Chicago until it runs out, and then it’s gone forever, disappearing into eternal blackness, just like any good metal-themed ale would.
