In Living Color reboot to hold auditions at Chicago’s Laugh Factory
Comedic performers may no longer need to starve and demean themselves in order to buy a bus ticket out to L.A. for that big-break audition. Jamie Masada, the founding owner of the Laugh Factory, has announced a casting call of sorts—to be held at the famed club’s new Chicago location—for the upcoming reboot of Keenan Ivory Wayans’ iconic 90’s sketch show In Living Color. Masada and the Laugh Factory were involved in casting the original show in Los Angeles during its prime-time run from 1990 to 1994.
Masada is teaming with the Fox Network once more to host open auditions for In Living Color at the new Laugh Factory Tuesday, Dec. 20th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Last week, Masada and Wayans hosted a new round of auditions at the Hollywood Club. “We are hoping to discover comic talent who can’t afford to make the trip to Los Angeles or may not have representation,” Masada said in a press release. “Any comic can drop off a tape or ask to be taped at the location. Anyone who is chosen to be seen by network executives will be flown to Hollywood by the Laugh Factory.”
There was no comment about whether chosen participants would be flown to Los Angeles on a private jet filled to the brim with mountainous piles of cocaine and beautiful hookers, which is probably the only sensible way to prepare an aspiring comedian for the L.A. way of life.
The Laugh Factory is located at 3175 N. Broadway, and will not officially open until mid-January.
