Kanye West announces return to studio in typical Kanye West fashion
Who else but Chicago-raised rapper/producer/loudmouth Kanye West could take a blog post about returning to the studio, presumably to record a follow-up to 2008's wonderfully confounding 808s & Heartbreak, and turn it into a polemic against consumer brainwashing and plea for artistic responsibility? And drop names like Maya Angelou and Nina Simone in the process?
In a typically hubristic ramble, West states that the new tunes will bring listeners—his all-capitals style removed here for your reading ease—"the best I have to offer with the same dedication that Kobe has on the court.” West then continues to say that “so many rappers get worse as their careers stretch out, but true poets get better,” while imploring fans to “soak in positive forces and look down on upon [sic] those who masquerade as truth tellers…”
To his credit, West ends on a humorous note, saying “now I'll have to figure out a way to make that ryhme [sic].” Oh, Yeezy, just add heavy doses Auto-Tune, and we won't be able to tell the difference.
