More Just Announced
Chicagoist hinted at it, but we have confirmation from the Hideout itself: There's no official Hideout Block Party this year, but the venue is hosting the Mad Decent Block Party Saturday Aug. 21. The event runs from 2 to 8 p.m., and will be free to anyone who RSVPs in advance. In a surprisingly "Gathering of the Juggalos"-esque promo video, below, Diplo promises "dunk tanks," "all sorts of balls," "wild animals," and more. He also guarantees a "super-secret headliner" at every show, though who that is for Chicago hasn't been announced. Diplo and Major Lazer will perform at some of the dates, and there are only four Mad Decent Block Parties scheduled for 2010, so chances are good they'll be at The Hideout. Mad Decent labelmates Maluca, POPO, Bosco Delrey, and Paul Devro are on the lineup as well.
Last year's Hideout Block Party was sponsored by Bloodshot, practically the complete opposite end of the spectrum from Mad Decent. Highlights from that event, featuring Alejandro Escovedo, Waco Brothers, Bobby Bare Jr., and more, will be released on a compilation CD Nov. 26.
