Matt Damon—yeah, that Matt Damon—at Metro Jan. 31
More Just Announced
He may have signed on as the new voice of corporate America earlier this week, but today, Matt Damon is getting back in touch with grassroots America, too.
The We Bought A Zoo actor is slated to headline a benefit reading on Jan. 31 at the Metro alongside an assortment of recognizable Chicago faces, including local poets, writers, and actors, such as the Steppenwolf Theatre’s Alana Arenas and Robert Breuler.
The presentation, known as “The People Speak, Live,” is adapted from the Howard Zinn-inspired documentary The People Speak. Zinn aimed to empower individual citizens by expanding Americans’ knowledge of the grassroots and protest movements that shaped U.S. history, and did so most famously with his book A People’s History Of The United States.
The show is produced by national non-profit Voices Of A People’s History, in conjunction with the Chicago youth-based spoken-word program Louder Than a Bomb.
