Mekons documentary reaches Kickstarter goal
But they’ll still totally accept money from anyone who wants to give it
Earlier this month, The A.V. Club reported on a fundraiser for The Mekons, a punk rock band featuring a couple Brits-turned-Chicagoans, Jon Langford and Sally Timms. The band asked for donations to fund Revenge of The Mekons, a documentary about them. The band and the film’s director, Joe Angio, have officially met their $20,000 goal. That means that Revenge of The Mekons will, in all likelihood, be completed (hooray!) and everyone who pledged to support the film will receive his or her reward (double hooray!).
However, The Mekons will still happily accept donations through Dec. 17 via Kickstarter. These funds will continue to cover production costs as editing begins in January, fund promotions for the film, and maybe even bribe some film festival judges if there’s any dough left over. Donors are still eligible to receive special prizes, like original artwork and signed prints.
