Mountain Goats and Megafaun at the Vic

More Just Announced
2011 is set to be a banner year for John Darnielle and The Mountain Goats. The band’s eighteenth LP, All Eternals Deck, a record at least partially inspired by Darnielle’s well-documented love of all things metal, is due for release on March 29 on indie juggernaut Merge Records. Four tracks on the record were produced by Erik Rutan, guitarist for death-metal legends like Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal. There’s also a Facebook campaign to get the band cast on Law and Order: SVU, inspired by an off-the-cuff remark made by Darnielle in an old interview. Things are looking up as the band enters its third decade of existence.
Stereogum just posted the album’s first single, “Damn These Vampires,” along with a slew of tour dates. Included in the Goats’ itinerary is a stop at The Vic on April 5. Joining the band will be psychedelic folk rockers Megafaun. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, Jan. 22, at 10 a.m.
