Mr. Tuten goes to Washington

Hideout co-owner to move to D.C. to work for Dept. Of Education

Hideout co-owner Tim Tuten is moving to Washington D.C. to work in the U.S. Department of Education next week, the Chicago Reader is reporting. Tuten will work directly with Secretary Of Education Arne Duncan starting on April 6.
Until recently, Tuten worked in the communications office for Duncan in his role as head of Chicago Public Schools. Prior to that, Tuten worked for CPS in several other capacities, including teaching for 17 years in CPS high schools. All that was in addition to his Hideout duties—so this shouldn't come as a complete surprise. As part of his new gig, Tuten will be advancing school visits for the Duncan and planning public events for the department.
And worry not, Hideout fans. Tuten’s wife, Katie, will remain in Chicago to run the venue along with the other co-owners. Tuten will return to the city often, hopefully bringing back his charmingly loquatious introductions for bands to summer events like the Pitchfork Festival and the Hideout Block Party. The Hideout was well known for its support of Barack Obama's campaign for president, even sponsoring a bus trip to D.C. for the inauguration and throwing its own informal inaugural ball featuring Andrew Bird, Jon Langford, and Ted Leo
