Jazz Conspiracy Jazz Conspiracy

What is the Jazz Conspiracy? Well, quite simply, it is this: Nobody likes jazz. It is a genre of music too hoity-toity for anyone to actually like; it continues to exist and be lucrative for its performers thanks largely to a small but well-to-do demographic known as the "record collector." These sad souls will wander into any musty used-record store in search of vinyl artifacts that house the infernal tootlings of largely jazz-exclusive instruments like saxophones, trombones, and other brass contraptions that end in –one. Not that these descriptions aid anybody much: The collectors don't even listen to these records, for fear it will diminish their value. And so, the conspiracy continues.

Jazz Conspiracy plays Pops Jazz Club at 9 p.m. on September 5. Tickets to the 21+ show cost $15.

Honorable mentions: Everybody Out!, Given 2 Fly, Terrible Spaceship, The Most Genuine Expression, Breaking Up A Dogfight, June July August, and Still Not Sexy.
