Namecheck: (-o-)
Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder: Scientists have determined it has more to do with boring geometrical properties like symmetry and proportion than BOTOX and silicone. (-o-)’s name certainly is symmetrical, and the local post-rock outfit cops to having a “healthy appreciation” for symmetry and, uh, amplitude, frequency, and polarization. And while the instrumental band’s music certainly is beautiful, it’ll likely confuse geeky Star Wars/rock music fans: Their name is an ASCII art version of an Empire TIE Fighter. However, that’s pretty much all the band has to do with Star Wars, and though the music’s pretty, there’s nothing uglier than a group of disgruntled nerds.
(-o-) plays a free show at Reggie’s Rock Club at 8 p.m. on July 10 with Colum A, Leopold & Loeb, and Bearhead.
