Recently, a number of studies have been released declaring that junk culture is robbing our nation’s youth of their childhood. Processed food, computer games, and over-competitive academic programs are forcing kids to act like mini-adults—and not in the “hilarious” Tom Hanks-in-Big or Robin Williams-everyday-of-his-life way. But what’s the cherry on the garbage sundae? Cover bands. Admittedly, they’re an easy target, but why in 2008 does America need an ’80s hair-metal cover band when the genre was completely unnecessary the first time around? It’s further compounded by the fact that many of those bands simply refuse to die and continue to drag their carcasses on tour themselves anyhow, but regardless: If junk culture doesn’t dispose of our children, Trash Martini will.
Trash Martini plays a free show at Cubby Bear on July 5 at 10 p.m.
