Portishead announces first national tour in 13 years
Get quietly excited, Portishead fans. The band has announced its first full U.S. tour since 1998, set to kick off Oct. 1 in Asbury Park, New Jersey with All Tomorrow’s Parties I’ll Be Your Mirror. The band will be curating two nights of the three-night festival and has booked acts like Mogwai, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, and Beak.
The band’s last record, Third, came out in 2008 to rave reviews, including an “A-” on this site. The band had intended to tour extensively after the album’s release but, apparently, that just didn’t work out with the band members’ schedules. In 2008, Portishead played an invite-only show in Los Angeles and the Coachella festival, but that was it, stateside at least.
A limited number of tickets are on sale now through the Portishead website, and will go on sale to the general public July 15 and 16—with the exception of the Chicago date, for which tickets will go on sale July 22. Thought Forms opens all dates.
